Family Stores Bring Back Sanity In The Greeting Card Market

There is much change in the world of the high street and companies are merging at a rate unheard of before the pandemic of a few years ago.  That episode really did rock our insitutions and it affected the way every business is run.  A couple of days ago I was talking with colleagues about trying to get suitable gifts for our offspring now that they’re past the teenage ‘must have’ stage.  We are blessed with a glorious development of shops that offer a variety of ideas so that it’s not just toiletries, clothes or drink.   However when a chum went into a very popular clothing outlet to get a gift card for a relative, the store had to decline because they are in the middle of merging with an even bigger and more famous clothing outlet so they can’t offer gift cards until that officially take place.    So gifts will still be possible!  There is also another well known store opened up that deals with books and greetings cards etc.  I was in there recently and spent a happy hour just smirking at the wonderful selection of amusing cards for all occasions – nothing smutty.  This was a great departure from the sad array in all the online suppliers.  You enter the word funny and they show crude examples of humour, or assume all women eat nothing but cake and drink copious amounts of wine.    It was wonderful to go into a proper store and see a selection cards you could read in front of the family!
